The client: An Australian global resources company

The client’s challenge: In the wake of a recent merger, this company aims to develop a Global First Nations Strategy that reflects its new, combined vision and ethos. This strategy aims to reaffirm its commitment to respectful and collaborative relationships with First Nations communities globally, fostering cultural understanding and inclusivity as integral elements of its post-merger identity.

GIRA’s response: GIRA are working with the client to develop a comprehensive framework that will ensure inclusivity, respect, and collaboration with First Nations peoples globally, throughout all its work and work practices. The framework will address the practical needs, opportunities and aspirations of First Nations communities and incorporate best practices for engagement and agreement-making. To provide a foundation for respectful engagement and collaboration, GIRA is providing advice in relation to governance structures, including legal, ethical, and social considerations, and is ensuring that the company has an understanding of and acknowledges the histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations peoples globally.
